Harry Clarke was born in Dublin on St. Patrick’s Day 1889. He was one of Ireland’s leading stained glass artists and book illustrator. Fairy Tales by Hans Christian Andersen was his first printed work, followed by illustrations for an edition of Edgar Allan Poe’s Tales of Mystery and Imagination. The latter made his name as a book illustrator. The image on this Sachet is an illustration from the poem Cradle-Song from The Year’s at the Spring: An Anthology of Recent Poetry.
